Description
Summary:In our days, the humankind is searching for new methods of saving every amount of energy that can be generated by people doing daily activities like walking, driving or exercising. The amount of energy generated by motion for a single person is low, but if we harvest energy from millions of people, we can use that energy to drive low energy consuming devices and save non-renewable resources. A method of saving energy from walking is to develop a piezoelectric system which will be placed in tiles from crowded areas. In this way, the energy created by people doing their daily activities will be harvested and used to power devices like LEDs displays, street lighting or phone charges. The experiment consists of pushing with a force of 800 N (the equivalent force for an 80 kg person) on a piezoelectric energy harvesting system design in a tile form and determine the amount of energy that can be harvested.
