Summary: | The article examines the dependencies of S-parameters of RF energy harvesting devices. The use of RF energy harvesting devices is explained by the growing popularity of independent low-power sources for powering wireless sensors. Such harvesting devices can produce up to 1.5 volts on the storage capacitor which is enough to power up wireless sensors with low-power transmitters. The importance of S-parameters measuring and study is explained by the need for effective matching of antennas and harvesting devices for the greatest energy output. The need for this study is also caused by the use of nonlinear components in the circuits and their operation in the vicinity of zero of volt-ampere characteristics, which complicates the analysis of circuits based on SPICE models. The conclusion is that the effectiveness of RF energy harvesting can be increased with proper antenna matching based on S-parameters, and schematics and layout can be optimized for best matching.. |
