Description
Summary:Photovoltaic plants embedded in sound barriers have been studied, and new approaches for integration of PV modules in the structures as well as for electric installation have been proposed. In this work we discuss the design of a specific modular element, the acoustic photovoltaic (APV) panel, resulting from integration of photovoltaic modules and acoustic panels. In tunnel shaped sound barriers the round profile gives rise to different tilt angles to parallel rows of APV modules. This feature poses severe constraints to PV plant layout, which must account for angle of exposition of the modules, both when they are DC-connected to form strings and when they are AC-connected to form three-phase systems. Several system configurations are proposed and discussed, taking into account efficiency as well as safety and ease of maintenance.
