Summary: | The Fermi profile for tapered slot integrated antenna is a kind of tapering profile which has greater degrees of freedom for antenna design. We introduce two new Fermi-like profiles and compare their radiation patterns to Fermi tapering. It is shown that when the slot widens at the beginning of the taper, the E-plane HPBW becomes narrower and the H-plane HPBW becomes wider. On the other hand, when the slot mainly opens at the end of the taper E-plane HPBW becomes wider and H-plane HPBW becomes narrower. For the E-plane pattern, experimental results are obtained and are in good agreement with theoretical ones. A CPW triangular impedance transformer combined with an in-line transition to slot-line with radial balun is applied for feeding the antenna. This antenna is intended for use in an integrated circuit mm-wave receiver for wireless communication. |
