Summary: | Fog computing, as an Internet of Things (IoT) technology, transfers data processing capabilities to near objects and users. So, by closing process capabilities to end-users and objects, fog nodes can help to reduce latency. On the other hand, cooperation between these nodes near users can further reduce response time. However, these nodes consume much energy with their processing power. Therefore, it is essential to establish a balance between response time and energy consumption in fog networks to process arrival workloads. This paper investigates a strategy aimed at balancing between these two parameters by considering collaboration between fog nodes and cloud. In this work, in the first step, two parameters of response time and energy consumption are formulated, and a multi-objective optimization problem is introduced. Then, this problem is converted into a convex single-objective optimization problem and solved using SCS as a convex problem-solving tool. Evaluation results show that collaboration between fog nodes and the cloud can affect both response time and energy consumption in a fog node. |
