Summary:Recovering raw minerals from spent batteries represents a challenge worldwide. To obtain clear, uncontaminated minerals, one of the most important tasks is to separate batteries of same size (AA or AAA) but different chemistries. This paper presents a study of separation methods and proposes a simple, fast, and cost-effective analysis to classify alkaline and zinc-carbon batteries, based on battery impedance.
