Summary: | This paper presents a study on the outage analysis of a decode-and-forward (DF) based mixed hybrid multi-hop co-operative system. The terrestrial source (S) consists of a hybrid radio frequency / free space optical (RF/FSO) communication link connected in parallel forming a hybrid backhaul structure. This hybrid link acts as a backbone and provides more reliability to the network. The intermediate link is another FSO link connecting the two DF relays (R 1 -R 2 ) in series that acts as a last mile access and the Underwater Optical Communication (UWOC) link is used for end users forming an end-to-end system. The channel links for RF, FSO and UWOC links are considered to be Nakagami-m, Double Generalized Gamma (DGG) and Exponential Generalized Gamma (EGG) distributed fading respectively. The closed- form mathematical expression for outage probability is derived in terms of Meijer-G function under varying conditions of channel fading. The results from this considered cooperative system show that the system outperforms when the impact of channel fading is low. Also, the analytical results and simulation results match each other perfectly. |
