Summary:In order to enhance the tensile strength of electrospun nanofibrous membrane, a method of preparing composite nanofiber was proposed. A rotation drum was introduced into electrospinning, the rotation speed could be changed to adjust the orientation of nanofibers. The diameter and orientation of nanofiber collected at various rotation speed were examined, and the tensile stress as well as average porosity were investigated. The tensile stress of nanofibrous membranes increased while the strain and porosity decreased with the increasing of the orientation arrangement. To achieve both high porosity and large tensile strength, multi-oriented composite nanofibrous membrane with different fiber orientations were prepared. The maximum tensile strength was 28.8 MPa and the porosity was 81.7%.
