Summary: | High-performance trigger generators with high amplitude, great stability, fast rise time and low jitter are essential for large-scaled pulsed-power systems. A Marx-type pulse generator was developed based on avalanche transistors. in order to obtain the high voltage output, one method was to connect several avalanche transistors in series at each stage of the Marx circuit, and the emitter and base of transistor were usually shortened. In this case, the first transistor of the first stage was triggered and the other transistors of the first stage worked in the overvoltage conduction mode. However, the conduction state of transistors worked in overvoltage mode was non-ideal, which led to the heat accumulation and concentration inside the transistors and caused the transistors failure eventually. |
