Description
Summary:In this paper, a novel three-phase PFC topology with a reconfigurable LCL filter is proposed with not necessary any additional grid-side inductors. The reconfigurable LCL filter consists of the original converter-side inductors and filter capacitors and a group of additional low-frequency bidirectional switches. There are six operation modes over a line cycle, and in each mode of the operation, the filter is reconfigured to keep the LCL filter structure by three inductors which two of them act as the converter-side inductors and one of them acts as the grid-side inductor. Therefore, all magnetic components are fully utilized, and the constructed power converter is able to maintain in simple small size structure and with a high quality of power transmission. The proposed PFC topology is verified by simulation, controller-hardware-in-the-loop (C-HIL) simulator, and a 1kW experimental prototype. The results show that the proposed PFC topology reaches the current quality as good as the conventional PFC topology while inductors are reduced by half in the proposed topology.
