Development of a magnetic pulse compression modulator for flue gas treatment
Summary form only given, as follows. A pulse generator of one stage MPC (magnetic pulse compression) modulator was developed. The modulator consists of a constant current capacitor charger (20 kV, 300 Hz), charging capacitors (0.2 mF, 20 kV), a thyratron switch, a pulse transformer (20 kV/160 kV), c...

Summary: | Summary form only given, as follows. A pulse generator of one stage MPC (magnetic pulse compression) modulator was developed. The modulator consists of a constant current capacitor charger (20 kV, 300 Hz), charging capacitors (0.2 mF, 20 kV), a thyratron switch, a pulse transformer (20 kV/160 kV), ceramic capacitors (3 nF, 180 kV) and a magnetic switch. The output voltage, the output current and the pulse width were 80 kV, 1.9 kA and 200 ns (FWHM), respectively, for a 41 W non-inductive resistance dummy load. The output energy was 22 J/pulse and the energy delivery efficiency from the charging capacitor to the dummy load was investigated as 55%. This modulator system can be operated at the repetition rate of 300 Hz. |
