Summary: | The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in severe shortages of ventilators around the world. COVID-19 patients with extreme acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) have an unmet requirement for quickly transportable, emergency-use ventilators with adequate functionality. We present the design and validation of a simple, compact, and low-cost ventilator with features such as automatic dual mode switching and Advanced closed loop feedback control for the intelligent adult respiratory circuit. It involves the design and making of a prototype that will provide oxygen-regulated, volume and pressure controlled air for mechanical ventilation with sensors providing feedback signals for a closed loop control. |
