Description
Summary:This article presents a hierarchical control scheme for dual active bridge converter featuring an inner sensorless inductor current envelope control loop. The ingenuity of this scheme lies in estimating the envelope of the fundamental component of the current and thereby controlling it. This also enables direct estimation of the peak current envelope, which can be seamlessly integrated with the overall scheme for overcurrent protection and saturation prevention. Estimation of the envelope, as opposed to estimating the current, results in a method that is equally effective as erstwhile reported techniques for saturation prevention. At the same time, it has a much less computational overhead. The proposed control scheme is validated through a laboratory prototype.
