Summary:The article describes laser cleaning of paper. In recent years, laser technologies were increasingly used for the preservation of the Cultural Heritage. One of the main fields of laser application in this area is the cleaning of CH objects from natural contaminations and anthropogenic pollutions. Compared with mechanical and chemical cleaning methods traditionally used in the restoration, laser cleaning technology has a number of important advantages, such as high efficiency and "delicacy" for the removal of contaminants. The paper presents experimental results on laser cleaning of paper including model samples and real artifacts (fragments of old newspapers).
