Summary: | This paper contrasts today's electricity markets, where fossil units supply most of the energy and flexibility services (FS), with a future year where renewables provide almost all of the energy and the load provides most of the FS. A co-optimized expansion planning application is used to illustrate. Results show a diverse portfolio of demand response types are needed to achieve this. |
