Summary:In 2015, MITRE began developing a cognitive assistance application designed to bring some of the benefits of a two-person crew to a general aviation pilot flying solo. Over the years, we have developed over 60 features for this application. In this paper, we will review some of what we have learned in the development process, how cognitive assistance tools may be classified, and ways to address some limitations of cognitive assistance on the flight deck.
