Summary: | This paper describes how the relative complex behavior of the devices in a three level converter leg is decomposed into well-arranged subsystem tasks, one for every individually controlled device model. Using subsystems the unused devices are simply not activated, hence the three level model may be used without time overhead in two level converters. The effects of conduction voltage drop and switching losses are included in the model using lookup tables. The model is developed particularly for implementation in Simulink, and experimental verification of the model is carried out. The paper ends with a discussion of the results. |
