Summary: | In this study, absorption of hydrocortisone from aqueous solution on PET fibers was analyzed. The influence of two experimental parameters (initial concentration and contact time) on the adsorption efficiency was examined in batch systems, at room temperature (23 ± 1 °C) and neutral pH (6.8-7.1). The experimental data were modeled using two isotherm and two kinetic models. The maximum adsorption capacity was 7.30 mg/g, while the minimum contact time was 100 min. Modeling of the experimental data showed that hydrocortisone is retained on PET fibers in multiple layers, predominantly through physical interactions. All these results highlight the potential applications of this adsorption process both in environmental engineering and in medicine. |
