Description
Summary:Nailfold video capillaroscopy (NVC) is a noninvasive diagnostic tool for the analysis of microcirculation. Microcirculation analysis and follow-up is of fundamental importance for individuation and/or monitoring the onset of a pathological condition and its progression. Raynaud's phenomenon as a possible association with scleroderma, lupus erythematosus, diabetes mellitus, etc. can be assessed by NVC. Although NVC-based analysis is clinically validated for the detection of some diseases (e.g., systemic sclerosis, scleroderma, etc.), even in the early stages, its use is currently limited and poorly widespread. Hereafter, the development of a nailfold capillaroscope, working at 540 nm is presented. A proper signal processing based on multivariate analysis to allow its use also in a non specialistic hospital setting. The realized system is intended to help the user in its interpretation and, at the same time, allows the monitor the values.
