A Compact Multi-Band PIFA Array Operating in the GPS L1/GSM1800 & 1900/UMTS/2.4-GHz WLAN /LTE2300 & 2500 Bands for Wireless Terminals
A compact multi-band planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) array made to cover the bands of GPS L1 (1,565-1,585 GHz), GSM1800 (1710-1880 MHz), GSM1900 (1850-1990 MHz), UMTS (1920-2170 MHz), LTE2300 (2305-2400 MHz), Wi-Fi (2400-2484 MHz) and LTE2500 (2500-2690 MHz) bands has been studied in this paper. Summary: | A compact multi-band planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) array made to cover the bands of GPS L1 (1,565-1,585 GHz), GSM1800 (1710-1880 MHz), GSM1900 (1850-1990 MHz), UMTS (1920-2170 MHz), LTE2300 (2305-2400 MHz), Wi-Fi (2400-2484 MHz) and LTE2500 (2500-2690 MHz) bands has been studied in this paper. The PIFA elements have an area of \boldsymbol{2.5\times 20} \mathbf{mm^{2}} over a small ground plane of size \boldsymbol{100\times 60\text{mm}^{2}} . To maintain the small size of the antenna element, a folded patch is used and it is etched over the FR4 substrate of 0.8 mm thickness. A separation of 55mm is realized between the PIFA elements to have a high isolation. The antenna is characterized with S-parameters, surface current distributions, and radiation patterns.
