Summary: | Automatic adaptation of power using the STANAG 5066 data link protocol has been successfully demonstrated over on-air links using the DERA STANAG 5066 test bed. Algorithms based solely upon measurements of frame error rates have been tested and successfully maintained the data throughput levels whilst the power was adapted through almost two orders of magnitude. Future trials are required to test algorithms designed for faster adaption of the power levels in response to fast changing HF channels, and to investigate algorithms which maintain the link by optimising both power and data rate within defined limits. |
