Description
Summary:The parallel plate photonic band gap (PBG) waveguide is analysed using an approximate technique which show the mode structure in terms of quasi LSM and LSE modes. The approximate model also shows that waveguides in periodic media are rich and complex phenomena. The periodic media can be produce frequency band gaps, artificial dielectrics, and total reflection interfaces suitable to guide electromagnetic energy.
