Description
Summary:The distribution pattern of potassium (K) in different segments of the mature green leaf of flue-cured tobacco on irrigated Alfisols revealed that in healthy plants when K is sufficient, K accumulation is greater in the basal portion of leaf and in the lamina portion near the mid-rib. In contrast, when K is in short supply, although the trend in the mid-rib is the same as in the healthy leaf, there is a tendency to translocate greater quantities of K towards the leaf margins and up in the K-deficient leaf. In both healthy and K-deficient leaves, the K content of the tip portion of leaf lamina was highly significant and positively correlated with the K content of the mid-rib
