Description
Summary:Potassium niobate, KNbO 3 (KN), based ceramics were prepared by a modified conventional ceramic fabrication process to characterize their piezoelectric properties. KN+MnCO 3 0.1 wt% ceramic in this study showed a high density ratio > 95% and a high resistivity, ρ, of about 10 12 Ω ·cm with nondeliquescent properties. Electromechanical coupling factor, k 33 , and piezoelectric strain constant, d 33 , of KN+MnCO 3 0.1 wt% indicated relatively large values of 0.51 and 80.8 pC/N, respectively. In (15) mode, k 15 , d 15 and Q m , were 0.50, 169 pC/N and 132, respectively. The d 15 is about 2 times as large as the d 33 . The shear mode vibration of KN-based ceramics seems to be a considerably promising candidate for actuator and high power applications.
