Photodissociation dynamics of 1-naphthol
The photodissociation of 1-naphthol at 193 and 248 nm was studied using multimass ion imaging techniques under collisionless conditions. Only one dissociation channel was observed, i.e. H atom elimination. The translational energy distributions show two components at both wavelengths. The slow compo...

Summary: | The photodissociation of 1-naphthol at 193 and 248 nm was studied using multimass ion imaging techniques under collisionless conditions. Only one dissociation channel was observed, i.e. H atom elimination. The translational energy distributions show two components at both wavelengths. The slow component corresponds to the dissociation from the ground electronic state after internal conversion, and the fast component results from the dissociation on the electronic excited state. Comparison with the photodissociation of phenol was made. |
