Summary:Phosphorus trichloride and phenyldichlorophosphine were reacted with two equivalents of benzophenone hydrazone and metallated stoichiometrically with nbutyllithium, to crystallize Li2(BuP(N 2 CPh 2 ) 2 ) and Li 2 (PhP(N 2 CPh 2 ) 2 ) respectively. An investigation into the synthesis of alternative metal containing imidophosphorus complexes using similar methodology has produced complexes of ((EtZn)PhP(NPhOMe) 2 EtZn) 2 and PhP(NNCPh 2 ) 3 (PhHg) 3 Cl.
