Summary:This paper describes an interactive rescheduler that can revise a schedule when sudden and unexpected events occur in a chemical plant. First, a progressive rescheduling method that is based on progressive reasoning is presented. Second, an IRSS (Interactive Rescheduling Support System) with an interactive rescheduler equipped with formal and informal knowledge that can cope with unexpected events is described. A practical example for evaluating the feasibility of the system is given.
