Description
Summary:On the occasion of honoring Dr. Margaret Blanchard, Professor, University of North Carolina, posthumously, with the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Eleanor Blum Distinguished Service Award, four former students delivered essays on the writing of journalism history. These four essays are reflections that help explain the importance and strategies of historical journalism research, by recognizing the unique talents of a highly gifted and influential scholar. Blanchard published Exporting the First Amendment and Revolutionary Sparks, nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in history. She edited the Mass Media History Encyclopaedia, named one of the 20 best reference books of the year by the New York Public Library. Her articles appeared in The Supreme Court Review, William and Mary Law Review, Journalism Monographs, Journalism Quarterly and others.
