Description
Summary:The use of polyurethane materials in the external strengthening of the sports venues has increased because of their mechanical properties and ease of application. The major problems found with the polyurethane sports venues are the crack failure of the surface layer. In the study, the effects of different adhesive condition and base layer materials on the surface damage of the polyurethane sports venues were evaluated using the finite element method. The effect of this damage was analysed by evaluating the stress-intensity factor at the tip of the first crack. The results showed that when the first crack of the top layer in the polyurethane sports venues has appeared, it will hardly affect the damage expansion of the surface material whether the structural bonding layer between the top and base layer is continuous. The base layer's materials play an important role in the damage level of the surface layer.
