Description
Summary:This study examined activity experiences, reasons for travel, quality of life, and selected demographic and personal attributes among extended-stay senior travelers. Data were collected from a convenience sample of 154 visitors to a Winter tourist destination in Texas. Subjects' mean age was 69.9 years and their average destination length of stay was 3.5 months. Results indicated that when subjects were grouped by destination activity participation frequency, interactive computer use and moderate to vigorous exercise distinguished the older traveler's activity experiences. Ownership of a personal computer, traveling to the destination because of the climate, and satisfaction with personal health significantly differentiated the more involved extended-stay traveler from the lesser involved.
