Summary: | A linear analysis is performed to explore the stability of an azobenzene-containing glassy nematic film on a soft elastic foundation under uniform illumination by UV light. It is found that the film can buckle to form wrinkles when the light intensity and the geometric and material parameters of the system are properly chosen. The results may help in the fabrication of photo-triggered wrinkled surfaces which are particularly attractive for applications where remote addressing is desired. |
