Anomalous stimulated Brillouin scattering in aqueous suspension of polystyrene nanospheres

Summary: | For the first time, stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) spectra have been measured for a suspension of dielectric nanoparticles in water. We observed anomalous dependence of SBS spectra on the concentration of polystyrene nanospheres (74 nm diameter). The nonlinear five-fold increase in the SBS threshold was determined for the nanosphere concentration range of 109 to 1015 cm−3. |
