Mutual diffusion in liquid alloys of heavy alkali metals with bismuth

Interdiffusion coefficients for liquid cesium-bismuth alloys containing from 20 to 40 at. % Bi are measured using a gamma-ray attenuation technique. The obtained results are compared with the data on mutual diffusion in the rubidium-bismuth melts studied earlier. The comparison shows that the concen...

Description
Summary:Interdiffusion coefficients for liquid cesium-bismuth alloys containing from 20 to 40 at. % Bi are measured using a gamma-ray attenuation technique. The obtained results are compared with the data on mutual diffusion in the rubidium-bismuth melts studied earlier. The comparison shows that the concentration dependences of the interdiffusion coefficient for Rb-Bi and Cs-Bi liquid systems demonstrate common features, namely, pronounced maxima at certain compositions. The origin of these features is briefly discussed.
