Summary:The present study concerns the identification of the colouring matter in ancient tapestries of different historical periods. The investigation was performed using HPLC-DAD-ESI-MS and the results were compared with a previously created reference database. Furthermore, the characteristic fragmentation pathway provided additional information for the identification of the dyes employed.
