Description
Summary:The paper describes a method of laser correction of geometric errors for CNC-controlled multi-axis equipment – CMMs and machine-tools. The method utilizes Kalman’s concept of “control and observation”. A multi-function laser interferometer is suitable to be used as an “observer” for digital production, and a CNC-programs postprocessor, introduced between CAM and CNC-systems, is used as “controller” of machine-tool’s accuracy. The result is three-dimensional distribution of volumetric accuracy within machine’s workspace – an important tool for diagnostics of the machine and the production process in general and its ability to produce and measure precision parts in particular.
