Description
Summary:Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), are increasingly becoming a part of our day-to-day lives. The vast range of possible uses is creating a new industry with a large economic potential. The technological developments are being developed at a much faster pace than that for manned aviation. From an operational perspective, the challenge lies in integrating the worlds of manned and unmanned aircraft in a safe and efficient way allowing both types of aircraft to use the same airspace. This paper is aimed at describing the results of a validation exercise executed in the frame of the SESAR Programme, with the objective to validate the operational and technical means for the integration of certified RPAS in an Italian Terminal Manouvering Area (TMA).
