Summary: | Petroleum wastewater (PW) is characterized by high value of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and recalcitrant contaminant. A series of limitations exist in the present removal methods of COD. In this paper, Fe78Si9B13 amorphous ribbon was prepared and used as the catalyst in the process for COD and oil content (O&G) removal. The effect of H2O2 dosage, initial pH value, Fe78Si9B13amorphous ribbon dosage and initial COD concentration on the degradation of the PW were studied. Almost 80% COD was removed with initial COD of 468 mg L−1 by amorphous Fe78Si9B13 catalyst of 1.5 g L−1 and H2O2 of 74.8 mM, at the same time, O&G degradation rate arrived 84.6% within 40 min at pH 3.0. The amorphous ribbonexhibited good structural stability, presenting almost no loss of performance even after 3 recycles. It was concluded that the Fe78Si9B13amorphous ribbon is a potential Fenton-like catalyst for the petroleum wastewater treatment. |
