Summary: | The main objective of the paper is to develop a thermal model for anticipating the heat loss behaviour of lithium titanate oxid batteries. Heat loss from experimental measurements was compared to heat loss which was determined from the modelling. The heat loss was quantified through reversible and irreversible heat sources in a 13 Ah pouch type commercial lithium titanate oxid battery. Experimental heat loss was measured by using isothermal battery calorimeter. The heat generation of the lithium-ion battery during functioning was estimated by the aggregate of two fundamental sources, which are the irreversible and reversible heat. The reversible heat generation rate was determined from the entropy variation. The irreversible heat is a complicated parameters to be determined and is characterized in dissimilar procedures in various heat analysing models. In this paper the irreversible heat was determined through internal resistance and current rate. |
