Summary: | Nickel exsolution studies were carried out on La0.3Sr0.5NixTi1-xO3-δ (LSN0.04TA-) anode backbone doped with nickel (x = 0.04 and 0.16). Physical characterizations of anodes were carried out using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope with elemental mapping and temperature programmed reduction to study the exsolution phenomena. Temperature programmed reduction studies prove that exsolution happens in two steps (around 350 °C and 677 °C) compared to a single step (~320 °C) reduction in traditional anodes. The performance of full cell containing LSN0.04TA- anode provided a polarization resistance (Rp) of less than 1 Ω cm2 and a maximum power density of 150 mWcm-2 at 900 °C in hydrogen. |
