Summary: | A fluorinated carbonate compound was identified as an electrolyte additive capable of stabilizing the new fluorinated electrolyte/electrode interphase in a high-voltage spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4/graphite cell. The synthesis and characterization of the additive are described, and the electrochemical performance and post-analysis using scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry revealed that this additive actively participates in passivation formation on the graphite anode, making it an effective additive for enabling all-fluorinated electrolytes supporting reversible Li+ intercalation chemistry in a LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4/graphite cell at elevated temperature. |
