Summary: | A 1 MV high voltage electron microscope has been constructed, employing a divided type Cockcroft circuit as the high voltage generating system, the accelerating tube being of the 14 stage type. The accelerating tube consists of a triode type electron gun, two aperture and a number of cylindrical lenses. In order to facilitate application of high voltage to the accelerating tube, the conditioning technique has been employed. The microscope column consists of a double condenser lens and a 4-stage image forming lens system in which the elimination of beam deflecting fields has been taken into account. A 4.5Ă… (lattice image) has been resolved. |
