Summary: | This essay depicts my story, the story of a Chicana from the mining town of Globe, Arizona. It describes who and what I am in the context of familia, growing up in a mining town, and attending schools there. It also describes my coming to terms with the formation and the power of language. Many voices will appear throughout this journey. I set out to describe the various incidents that helped shape my identity as a Chicana through the power of language.
