Summary:If the Italian immigrant experience has a presence in anthologies of multicultural American literature, it is usually through a short story by John Fante. He published fully half of his lifetime production of short stories before 1940, in national magazines such as American Mercury, Atlantic Monthly, Harper’s Bazaar, and Scribner’s.
