The Polymerization of Styrene Sensitized by Molecules in the Triplet State. I. The Reaction between Anthracene and Styrene
The photochemical reaction between anthracene and styrene has been investigated. It has been found that excited anthracene not only initiates the polymerization of styrene, but also copolymerizes with it. In view of the long life of the triplet state of anthracene as compared with that of the excite...

Summary: | The photochemical reaction between anthracene and styrene has been investigated. It has been found that excited anthracene not only initiates the polymerization of styrene, but also copolymerizes with it. In view of the long life of the triplet state of anthracene as compared with that of the excited singlet state, it has been suggested that it is trip let anthracene which is involved in the reaction. |
