Summary: | Recent consideration of the systems approach as applied in educational theory to methods of teaching introductory economics has elicited a number of proposals. Economics instructors, however, have failed to adopt such proposals. As Johnstone and Lewis (1976, p. 30) state: "... the long-standing cry for a resolution of the goals and a limitation of content remains unheeded in the overwhelming majority of colleges and universities." In part, this failure stems from some basic differences in logic between economic theory and the systems approach to instructional design. |
