Description
Summary:This study examines the economic impact on the state of Washington, when a major state university imports nonstate grant and research funds. In large part, these funds have federal agency origins. The central issue is that to the extent these funds are from sources external to the state, they represent a pure economic stimulus to both the university and the state and a direct savings for the state's higher education commitment. This paper reports the estimated magnitude of this economic stimulus by using multipliers derived from the state input-output study.
