Summary: | The Department of Art at the University of Notre Dame has a new curriculum for its Bachelor of Fine Arts program. It differs from any known model and represents an improved method for training artists within the university environment. It came into being because of the inherent nature of creative activity and its variance with the traditional academic order. The B.F.A. at Notre Dame, since its beginning in the early 30's, has had the same curricular structure as other disciplines. Being a relatively recent addition to the university environment it merely donned the conventional academic regalia of course structures, classroom-type spaces, meeting times, and teaching procedures. |
