Summary: | The multielement conodont genus Appalachignathus, n. gen., with the type species A. delicatulus, n. sp., is described on the basis of collections from the Middle Ordovician of eastern North America and the Great Basin. The apparatus of Appalachignathus includes modified spathognathiform, ozarkodiniform, trichonodelliform, zygognathiform, and eoligonodiniform elements. Appalachignathus delicatulus is widely distributed in the middle Middle Ordovician of North America but it has not been recorded thus far from other areas. |
