The apparatus of Appalachignathus includes modified spathognathiform, ozarkodiniform, trichonodelliform, zygognathiform, and eoligonodiniform elements. Appalachignathus delicatulus is widely distributed in the middle Middle Ordovician of North America but it has not been recorded thus far from other areas.
