Summary: | The Bodleian library preserves 152 exemplars of early printed vernacular works by Petrarch, consisting of 11 fifteenth-century editions and 100 sixteenth-century editions. While four exemplars were in the library from the very beginning in the early seventeenth-century, and subsequent items were acquired by the library in the following centuries, the bulk of the collection (62 items) entered the library in the early twentieth-century, as a result of the donation of Paget Jackson Toynbee. |
