Summary:Studies in Dioscoreaceae V. Restoration of Dioscorea monadelpha and identification of Dioscorea subhastata. The combination Dioscorea monadelpha (Kunth) Griseb., has priority over D. monadelpha (Kunth) Pax, both are homeotypic homonyms; the epithet is restored for materials of southern Brazil. Besides, D. monadelphoides Macbr. remains as a superfluous epithet. Dioscorea monadelpha (Kunth) Pax var. opaca Hicken is reduced to the synonymy of D. cienagensis Knuth. Dioscorea subhastata Vell. Conc. is identified and D. guaranitica Chodat et Hassler and D. lagoasanta Kunth are considered synonyms.
